"A New Year Message from Renee Campbell We’ve got some great marketing tips coming up this quarter, but I wanted to take a little break with this message. I hope it isn’t too late for a New Year thought. There are still a few thoughts looking back and looking forward that linger from the rarified air of the holiday season. Coming back to work can be a mixed bag. I was sorry to see it end; that preciously scarce time to spend a little time just the way I wanted to, with time to read, visit, catch up and kick back. Retreat is good! However, I began to look forward to getting back to work. On my Monday morning commute, my mind was filled with positive thoughts. I am grateful to have work I enjoy. I am encouraged by the resilience of the business owners and the workforce in our region and our refusal to give in to the gloomy economics of 2009. I am happy to be counted as a contributor to the positive things that go on in our community. I thought of the donations to the local food banks, Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, churches and other outreach programs that made the holidays better for many who are out of work, underemployed or far from home. I thought of you, my family, friends and neighbors, who mentor students, encourage young mothers, help the sick or hurting, support the needs of the elderly, or just keep up with what is happening in your neighborhoods and help where you can. Some of you spend your passion and energy promoting the arts, visual, written and performing, and some have gifts and abilities in political and government service. Some of you not only share part of your lives in these endeavors, but by vocation dedicate your lives to serve, promote, encourage, build bridges, console, employ, teach, provide, heal and generally leave things better than you found them. I thought of you who sacrifice your time, jobs, and time with your families by serving in the armed services. I am grateful for all of you. Sometimes I feel small and that my accomplishments don’t stand up very well on their own. But when I think of the great people I get to work with, play with, and serve with in our community; I feel extremely blessed, energized, hopeful, connected and multiplied.
