Take at least 15 minutes Every day, to think about you present book of business. What might you do to stay top of mind, without calling or emailing that basically says “what’s up?”
Sales is like fly fishing, not hunting. Sit on the bank, watch the water, keep casting. Meanwhile enjoy the sunshine adn the fresh air.
Then …. when you see a ripple or sense that the printing event is about to occur. Cast to exactly that spot, with exactly the right bait. After just a little practice, you’ll catch more than you lose.
The era of big game hunting is over. They are either already in a service level agreement or they prowling looking for enough food to keep them alive.
The era of fly fishing is beginning. It’s a very slow sport that needs patience and practice.
Thanks Michael. I just think that one of the problems we have in our country is that we follow, in droves, to the next “latest & greatest” thing. Your take on patience is oh so true. And you really have to buy into the fact that nothing comes easy. If it did, it is fleeting…as evidenced by dotcom bubble, housing boom, etc…
