As manroland launched the ROLAND 700 HiPrint it promptly won the InterTechTM Technology Award. It will print everything from the thinnest of papers, foils, plastics, and special materials up to thick carton. Integrated automation makes short run production simple, and it will print up to 16,000 sheets per hour on longer runs. The press can be configured with a double sized, single sheet turning cylinders, and two 12 units in combination with coating units. Fully Automatic Plate Loading (APL), ROLAND InlineSheeter, ROLAND InlineSorter, ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor, AUPASYS logistics and QuickChange options are also available to deliver faster change-over, reduced make-ready times and start-up waste and optimal sheet size selection.

The ROLAND 700 DirectDrive is the world’s first offset press with an electronic drive on the plate cylinder to save up to 60 percent of make-ready time, according to the company. Plate change on all printing units is carried out simultaneously and concurrently with other make-ready steps. It is also ideal for users of long perfectors with eight, 10 and 12 printing units, and electronic controlled start up for repeat jobs in perfecting with different paper formats. Prinect Web-to-Print Manager “Powered by Pageflex” is Heidelberg’s new digital storefront. Web-to-Print Manager is a comprehensive set of on-line tools designed to make it easy for a print provider to offer their customers a simple, yet powerful method of uploading new files, or manipulating existing files for digital or offset printing. Other options include e-mail campaign management, variable data support, document customization and brand management via highly customizable e-comerce portals.
The Web-to-Print Manager is tightly integrated with the complete Prinect production workflow offering features not found in other web-to-print solutions. Document preflighting is accomplished by the Prinect Preflight – found standard in the Prinect workflow. Additionally, the PDF preview generated for the storefront is created by the same Prinect engine that is utilized for actual printing plate output. For print shops that want to perform job “ganging” for production efficiencies – the embedded Prinect Gang Form Manager helps the production operators to logically group similar jobs (due date, stock, colors, etc,) together for the best utilization of all production equipment. Heidelberg will offer the Prinect Web-to-Print Manager both as a license model – hosted locally by the print provider, and as a Software-as-a-Service – offering remote hosting options.
